Personal branding is making a promise to ourselves and to people we serve, that we have a vision of who we will be to them.
We may not be there yet, but our commitment is, everything we do, we strive to live up to the promise.
There will be lapses and glitches. That is alright. No one is perfect.
So the brand is not about trying to whitewash what we are, but to communicate what we really want to be.
I’m working on my personal branding statement to my daughters, to my wife and to my students/parents.
My branding as a father is what comes to my daughters’ minds when they think about me.
My branding as a husband is what comes to my wife’s mind when she think of me.
My branding as a Maths coach, is what comes to my students’ / clients’ when they think of me.
A fun challenge for you: What is your personal brand to different groups of people in your life?
