Hello fellow tutors, welcome to Future-Ready Tutors, a resource website made by me, a tutor, and dedicated to all tutors who position themselves to be ready for a future which is volatile, unpredictable, complex and ambiguous.

My name is Jason Lee, and I am the founder of Future Ready Tutors. I am an online tutoring specialist, an adjunct lecturer and the author of three best-selling mathematics academic books.

Why I founded Future Ready Tutors:

In my 6 years as a private tutor, I noticed a desperate lack of support structure and a community for tutors. As freelance tutors, we don’t have colleagues, we don’t have a dedicated network. Most of the time we spend our time talking to students and their parents. We do everything else by ourselves.

Many of us are great educators with hearts for our students, but we are not trained as entrepreneurs. Maybe we don’t need serious MBA skills to run our tutoring practice, but many of us certainly can benefit from having some upgrades in negotiation skills, marketing skills, selling skills and networking skills.

Even the best teachers in schools go for upgrading courses to hone teaching skills and get equipped with more peripheral skills like psychology, counselling, curriculum design, etc. As tutors we often don’t know where to find more relevant resources to upgrade ourselves. Even if we can find them, these courses are usually a huge commitment of money and time.

So I thought, hey, why not just share what I’ve learnt in these 6 years of my tutoring career? That is why I made this website.

Themes:

There are two main theme to the articles in this website: Education and Business. Education articles help tutors teach better. Business articles help tutors be more profitable in their tutoring practice through adopting sound business principles.

A summary of my teaching experience:

I started lecturing in Republic Polytechnic more than 12 years ago. Till date I have taught more than 2000 students.

I give 1-on-1 tutoring for more than 6 years. Since three years ago I started doing it online through a virtual collaboration room called ClassDo.com. Now all my students are tutored online.

I train parents how to help their children learn better, through online small group lessons and through seminars.

In conjunction with ClassDo.com, I have created the first training program in Singapore, “Start A Successful Online Tutoring Business” which focuses on enabling tutors to leverage on technology to multiply their productivity and reach new markets. Since 2019 we have converted this program to a fully interactive online experience. You can join the next one here.

I have some experience developing curriculums too, having developed a 6-module curriculums for a social-entrepreneurship course used by SingYouth Hub. I developed a P3 innovative Maths syllabus for my own tuition centre.

I have an intimate knowledge of tuition industry in Singapore, having managed two tuition centres. I am currently a partner of Bamboo Green Education, a tuition centre chain specializing in maths and science.

I am also a certified NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) coach and certified Human Behaviour Consultant, graduated from the Nanyang Technological University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, won the prestigious ASEAN Pre-U scholarship, and received the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), awarded by the Workforce Development Authority, Singapore.
